FC Bayern München and Paris Saint-Germain FC still harbour hopes of a treble following cup victories while Club Atlético de Madrid are through to the Copa del Rey final.
German Cup
FC Bayern München's impressive campaign continued as they triumphed 1-0 over Borussia Dortmund to reach the German Cup semi-finals. Already 17 points clear of Dortmund at the Bundesliga summit, and 3-1 ahead of Arsenal FC in the UEFA Champions League round of 16, Bayern maintained their cup aspirations thanks to a thunderous first-half effort from Arjen Robben. Daniel Van Buyten, Dante and Mario Mandžukić all went close to adding another with second-half headers, though Julian Schieber also missed an excellent chance to equalise in added time.
In the day's other quarter-final, VfB Stuttgart won 2-0 against VfL Bochum 1848 thanks to goals from Christian Gentner and Vedad Ibišević.
French Cup
Paris Saint-Germain FC remain on course for a domestic double after their second victory against Olympique de Marseille in four days. Zlatan Ibrahimović opened the scoring on 34 minutes and secured the victory from the penalty spot 19 minutes after the break.
Elsewhere, UEFA Europa League contenders FC Girondins de Bordeaux needed a shoot-out to squeeze past fourth-tier Raon-L'Étape and reach the French Cup quarter-finals for the first time since 2008. The Ligue 1 side trailed 2-1 in extra time and were seven minutes away from elimination before Cheick Diabaté took the game to spot kicks, Bordeaux winning 5-3.
AS Nancy-Lorraine were also given a scare by lower-league opposition but extra-time goals from Benjamin Moukandjo and Thomas Ayasse ensured they progressed at the expense of fifth-tier AS Des Minguettes Venissieux. FC Lorient had no such trouble against Stade Brestois 29 with Jérémie Aliadière scoring twice in the final 20 minutes of a 3-0 win.
FA Cup
Chelsea FC set up an exciting FA Cup quarter-final tie against Manchester United FC thanks to a 2-0 win at Middlesbrough FC. A deflected effort from Ramires broke the deadlock six minutes after the break before Victor Moses put the result beyond doubt with a simple finish 17 minutes from time.
Spanish Cup
Club Atlético de Madrid will face Real Madrid CF in the final after completing a 4-3 aggregate success away to Sevilla FC. Already 2-1 up from their home leg, Atlético put the tie out of reach within half an hour as Diego Costa (6) opened the scoring and Falcao's clinical finish made it 2-0. Jesús Navas (39) gave the hosts slight hope but they had to wait until second-half added time to level through Ivan Rakitić, the goal sandwiched in between red cards for home pair Gary Medel and Geoffrey Kondogbia. The final will take place on 18 May.
